Top 32 Gifts for Travelers

1)      Backpack (~$39)

The traveler in your life will need a backpack for their trip. I used this one for years and it has never given me a problem. It has been with me to over 30 countries and never even ripped once.    If you want to read about more backpacks my friends have used while traveling with me you can visit my other article here

2)      Passport case

It is important to keep your passport in good shape if you’re planning on traveling a lot. This case comes in many different colors and has places to store your cards and airline tickets. Having a passport case is so easy and simple and will save you a lot of trouble for such a low price! Save the traveler in your life stress and keep them organized with this amazing passport case as a gift.

3)      Waterproof backpack (~$30)

Are you or someone you are shopping for planning on going to places where it might rain? Do you plan on bringing expensive items such as a laptop or camera on your trip that you do not want to get damaged? In that case it is important to get a waterproof backpack. I did not personally use this one because I do not bring valuables on trips, but if you are on the fence buy one! They will keep your electronics safe and your mind at ease.

4)      Passport holder (~$7)

This is an easy and important item to have on an international trip. It can also double as a passport case and money holder. I like these because you can hold it on your person at all times so you will never not know where your passport is because that is the last thing you want to lose!

5)      Cannon Camera (~$250)

There are thousands of cameras to choose from, so I cannot review all of them…but this is the one I used for some of my trips. It has 20.2 megapixels, WIFI capabilities, and is small and compact. This camera is a great value! Be careful not to drop it because it does break easily.

6)      Go Pro

Do you want good pictures for your trip? Do you want a small, waterproof, easily stored camera that you can bring anywhere? If either of those are true get a Go Pro! I like Go Pros way more than regular cameras while I travel because they are so easy to use and easy to store! There are many to choose from as well depending on your commitment level.

a. Go Pro 8 (~$300)

The Go Pro 8 is one of the best Go Pros on the market. It is waterproof, has a touchscreen and can be easily transferred to your laptop. The images captured on this go pro are amazing and I highly recommend!

b. Go Pro 7 (~$150)

The Go Pro 7 White is one step below the 8, but it is almost the same thing. It is waterproof, has a touchscreen and can also be transferred to laptop. The only big difference is that the go pro 7 white doesn’t have as high of quality of photo ability, but it is close enough.

7)      Picture frames (~$25)

Picture frames are a good gift for really anyone on your list, but I know travelers would love them. These are just generic frames, but you can get any size or design you want! Let the traveler / photographer in your life show off what they have done in their home and decorate their living space with this wonderful gift!

8)    Aloe lotion (~$4)

Lotion is important to have during or not during traveling. This lotion is a cheap and easy lotion that will last a long time. I am always looking for products with aloe if I am not using the plant directly because it is great for your skin! This is a great gift for anyone…not just a person who travels.

9)   Hanging toiletries holders

Hanging toiletry holders are superior to normal toiletry holders for many reasons if you are an avid traveler. They are easily accessible and do not require you to pour anything out to find what you want. You can just hang them on the door and take what you need. A lot of the time when I have traveled I have found myself in small bathrooms or needing to get a toothbrush or something fast. Having a hanging toiletry holder helped me clean up in the morning or night easily in hostels or hotels and also made it easier to find items I needed in a hurry or in a busy location. They are DEFINATELY worth it and will be one of the most practical gifts for the traveler in your life.

a.       Hanging toiletry bag (~$25)

b.       Hanging Toiletry Bag part 2 (~$7)

10)   Portable power bank (~$22)

The last thing you want while traveling if for your phone or important electronic equipment to die when you need it most! A portable power bank will help that to not happen. No one has time to sit at a coffeeshop or by a plug somewhere waiting for their phone to change at a time of need. Be more efficient and get a portable power bank so you never have to slow down your day! They are probably the best gift you can give a traveler and they are relatively cheap and will make their lives so much better and less stressful!

11)   Lightning charging cable (~$10)

Lightning charging cables actually make a HUGE difference in the time it takes to charge your phone! I have one of these and it can charge my phone in a couple hours! This will save you time if you don’t have a long time to charge your phone at once time! Make sure to get an adapter though if you are traveling abroad! This is a great gift for anyone in your life!

12)   Travel pillow

Travel pillows are useful for a number of reasons. I use a travel pillow because I do not want to use the ones they give to you on the plane or hotels/ hostels because I do not think they clean them. Having your own blow up pillow can be useful because you know it is always available to you and clean. You can also bring a pillowcase if you are worries about hotels or hostels or somewhere where they provide a pillow to you.

a.       Inflatable travel neck pillow (~$10)

b.       Inflatable pillow (~$17)

13)   Small towel

Small towels are important if you are trying to stay in hostels during your time abroad. Hostels do not provide bath accessories so you will need your own or just dry off in the open air. Don’t be a crazy person and do that…instead get your own towel. They can be a regular bath towel, or if you are trying to save on space get a microfiber towel. They are extremely absorbent and dry very fast! This way you won’t have to wait for your bath towel to dry!

a.      microfiber absorbent towel ($7-$20)

b. microfiber absorbent towel 2 ($7-$21)

14)   Selfie stick (~$12)

This is only useful if you or a loved one will be traveling alone during their trip and want to get good photos. You can always set up your phone in the distance to get good pictures if you are alone, but if you want your pictures to be fast and easy get a selfie stick to take all the selfies of you all around the world! Don’t hate … appreciate !

15) Reusable water bottle

Reusable water bottles save the planet and save you money! Get yourself a reusable water bottle so you can travel around the world and not worry about buying water at every place you go! Having your own reusable water bottle also helps the planet!

a. Rubbermaid (<$7)

This reusable water bottle is well worth your money for a small trip. These bottles are sturdy enough, easy to refill, big, and overall an amazing value.

b. Contigo (<$8)

I have also had my Contigo water bottle for years now. They are slim, do not break easily, and are one of the cheapest options, so even if you only use it 10x you will be saving money on your trip. I would recommend buying one without a straw or taking it out completely. This way they are easier to clean.

c. Nalgene (<$11)

I have had my Nalgene water bottle for years now, and I can definitely say it is the best budget bottle I have ever used. These bottles hold the most water, they are the easiest to clean, they are easily stored, and do not break easily in my experience.

d. Camelbak (<$15)

I like these water bottles for a small trip. They are sturdy, easy to carry, and washable. They are also not as expensive so you won’t feel as bad if something happens to your bottle on your trip.

e. Hydroflask (<$40)

Hydroflask water bottles are my favorite because they keep your water warm or hot, are very stable, and easy to carry around. Just be careful not to lose or damage it on your backpacking trip.

16)   Scratch off map

Scratch off maps are fun because you can mark off where you have been and see how much of the world you have (or have not) touched. I like to see it in different perspectives and remember where I have been and where I still need to go. This is a great and very fun gift for travelers in your life!

a.       Scratch off World Map (~$24)

b.       Scratch off World Map #2 (~$20)

17)   Lock

Having something as simple as a lock when you travel is essential! You never know when you will need to lock something up. Holding around a simple lock for $5-$10 is worth it even if you end up not using it on your trip…because you will eventually. This is a gift for travelers that could save them from getting robbed. Always be safe!

a.       Master Lock (~$10)

b.       Locker Lock (~$5)

18)   Umbrella (~$11)

One of the last things you want is to get stuck in a rainstorm with no umbrella. This happens a lot during the rainy season or in rainy areas in the world, so why not just come prepared? This umbrella is cheap and can fit easily in your backpack. This is a great gift to give a traveler or anyone you know that is unfortunate enough to live somewhere where it rains all the time.

19)   Sleeping mask

Sleeping masks and earplugs or noise canceling headphones can come in handy if you have trouble sleeping anywhere. I personally can fall asleep almost anywhere, but it is helpful to have a few things to make your sleep more enjoyable and easy! You can get a sleeping mask for super cheap or splurge and get a more expensive one! This will be a great gift for any traveler!

a.       Sleep Eye Mask (~$16)

b.       Basic Eye Mask (~$5)

20)   Earplugs (~$10)

Earplugs are important while traveling for a number of reasons. They can help you to get sleep at a noisy hostel / plane / train / anywhere you need sleep that isn’t a quiet hotel. Splurge a few dollars to make your life more enjoyable and relaxing. I know the hardest part for me when I try to sleep is when people are noisy ! In order to get rid of the noise I can put in ear plugs and sleep great!

21)   Universal adapter

a. International adaptor (<$20)

This is the charger I have used in every country I have ever gone. It is great because it is an adapter that you can use anywhere in the world.  It has four USB ports and a regular charging plug you can plug your normal charger into.  This means you can charge four things at once.  I have charged multiple things at once using this charger, and I have had no problems in the FOUR YEARS I have owned and used it. You can charge your phone, your Go Pro, and your friend’s phone and Go Pro all at once!

b. International adaptor #2.

This charger is about the same as the one mentioned above, but it is black so you can look more discreet if you don’t want to hold a huge blue block around like me!  This is an international charger that can be used in any continent on Earth and has multiple charging ports! If you are looking to travel a lot and have a lot of electronics you can’t do better than this adapter.

c. Adaptor only for Europe. (<$10)

This international adapter for travel only works in Europe, but it is also less than $10 so if you aren’t planning on traveling all over the world it is a great start. All you need is your normal charger to plug into this one or a USB to plug in. This is a budget friendly international charger.

22)   Lint roller (~$3)

Lint rollers are very helpful for anyone on the go! They will help you look fresh and clean even if you just got out of a dust storm or hanging with cats all day. Make sure to stay clean and get a link roller. They are very cheap (~$3) but can make a huge difference in anyone’s life.

23)   Laundry bag

Laundry Bags make doing laundry abroad a lot easier. Instead of bringing your whole suitcase or small bags to the laundry machine you can easily put your clothes in a bag and easily get your laundry done. The travel size laundry bag is a lot smaller than the Compact laundry bag, so make sure you plan ahead if you are bringing a lot of clothes on a trip.

a.       Travel size laundry Bag (~$5)

b.       Compact laundry bag (~$10)

24)   Hairbrush

Hairbrushes just make life easier if you are traveling. They aren’t for everyone, but they are essential for me. Make sure you stay looking nice and put together on your trips!

a.       Luggage Tag (2 for ~$3)

b.       Leather Luggage Tag (2 for ~$5)

26)   Travel organizer (for documents)

Having an organizer for travel documents is very important if you plan to travel for long periods of time or to a lot of different places. This travel gift can help the traveler or busy worker in your life stay organized and keep all their important documents easily accessible. You do not want to lose your check in information, flight logs, or anything else when you are traveling. Keep them safe and organized so you do not get lost or have to pay extra fees if you do lose them! This is a great gift for a traveler or busy worker in your life.

a.       Extending Organizer (~$6.5)

b. Expanding File (~$10.5)

c.      Expanding File Folder (~$9)

27)   Thermal pants (~$26)

Thermal pants are so important to have in the winter. They can be worn under your normal pants and help keep you warm. These can be used when you travel or even when you are just hanging out at home. I wear thermal pants all the time in the winter when I am traveling or not! Thermal pants can help a winter day feel warmer.

28)   Noise canceling headphones

These are similar to the earplugs from earlier. If you have trouble sleeping and need to have an easy way to make the room quiet noise canceling headphones are for you! Not only will these make it easier to sleep/ make the room quiet when you do not want to be bothered, but they will also play your favorite music. These are wireless as well so you don’t have to worry about them getting tangled! These are a great gift for travelers who might need some quiet on their trip or really for anyone who wants some peace and quiet in their life!

b.      Mpow bluetooth headphones (~$45)

c.       VIPEX Bluetooth noise canceling headphones (~$25)

Packing cubes make travel life easier. How many times have you packed a suitcase only for your clothes to get tangled up and not having the ability to separate dirty and clean clothes? This won’t happen with packing cubes. The cubes will keep each category of clothing you have separate and easily accessible. This is a great gift for travelers!

a. Packing cubes #1 (~$21)
